At the invitation of the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriákos Mitsotákis, the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, attended a meeting in Athens that brought together officials from the Western Balkans, Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Ukraine and the leaders of the European Union.
The summit provided a platform for discussions about the EU enlargement process: "We talked about the fact that Moldova's accession to the EU is an investment in our democracy and regional security. The Chișinău authorities are firmly committed to carrying out the reforms that will allow us to create European living conditions at home," said the head of state.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the President also discussed the Republic of Moldova's European course and the country's bilateral agenda with the Prime Minister of North Macedonia Dimitar Kovachevski, Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković.
"Accession to the European Union is our country's project, through which we will fulfil the aspirations of the Moldovans to live in peace and well-being. Moldova's place is among the strong and free countries of the world", emphasized President Maia Sandu.
