President Maia Sandu had a discussion today with the Minister of Health, Ala Nemerenco, about the ongoing plan to improve health services nationwide. The head of state noted that the investments of around 3 billion lei in the country's hospitals, the renovation or major repair of over 60 different profile departments, 9 maternity wards, 11 intensive care units, and the acquisition of essential equipment, including dozens of CT scanners, and the distribution of 120 ambulances are making a significant impact - now our doctors can save more lives.
“An important topic for the people I talk to when I visit villages is cheaper, compensated medicines. I have found that sometimes citizens are unaware that, for the first time, a number of medicines have become free, while others are compensated up to 80%. We agreed with the Minister to communicate more on this subject,” said President Maia Sandu. In this regard, the head of state urged all citizens to ask their family doctors for the list of compensated medicines and made a request to doctors to clearly inform people that the state pays part of the costs of medicines.
Moreover, the President mentioned that people need to know about the E-Prescription, which allows chronic patients to get compensated medicines and necessary medical devices without waiting in line to see the doctor and wasting time. They need to inform the medical staff that they require a new prescription.
“I expressed my confidence that the “Pharmacy in Your Village” program will be accelerated, so that rural residents will have access to medicines without having to travel long distances. Sixteen pharmacies have already been opened and another 20 have received licenses, with a total of 150 pharmacies to be created in villages that never had a pharmacy,” added President Maia Sandu.
