Moldovan President Maia Sandu welcomed today in Chisinau the head of the Latvian legislature, Edvards Smiltēns, with whom she discussed the security situation in the country and the region. President Maia Sandu stressed that despite the difficulties, the authorities are maintaining peace and stability in the country and are strengthening the institutions that are supposed to ensure order. At the same time, the head of state thanked for the very close partnership and active support in our European path.
With Latvia, we have excellent cooperation in the field of home affairs, especially at the border police level, but also close cooperation in the investigation of the bank fraud case. We are working together on important projects in the field of education and research, and we want to extend our projects to the area of combating propaganda and disinformation, drawing on the Latvian experience.
